ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Khon Kaen University (KKU) was established as the major university in the northeastern part of Thailand in 1964 and has since devoted itself to becoming one of the top universities in Thailand. The university’s major mission is to prepare future global citizens to work in a continually changing world. KKU’s strategic goal is to be recognized both internationally and regionally as a leading university in research. KKU currently has more than 40,000 students studying in 19 faculties, 3 colleges 1 school, and 2 campuses.


Khon Kaen University has continually developed as of the date of foundation until today. The success of development and administration can be divided into 3 periods as follows:


First Period: Foundation and expansion of the university

Second Period: Development and building of bodies of knowledge

Third Period: The age of research university and leading research university

Research Publication Scholarship Fiscal Year of 2025

1. Being a graduate student with active status throughout the duration of receiving this scholarship.

2. Field of Health Sciences/Science and Technology

  • Having research paper where they are listed as the first author and it has been published, or it has been accepted for publication, or there is evidence of submission for publication that is currently under review. In all cases, it must be an international academic journal listed in the Scopus database with a minimum of 1 article in Quartile 1 (Q1), and the research is considered a part of the graduation process.

Field of Humanities and Social Sciences:

  • Having research paper where they are listed as the first author and it has been published, or it has been accepted for publication, or there is evidence of submission for publication that is currently under review. In all cases, it must be an international academic journal listed in the Scopus database, and the research is considered a part of the graduation process.

3. Research publications that have been accepted for publication in Open Access journals from March 1, 2024, onwards must comply with the Graduate School's Announcement No. 28/2024 regarding guidelines for supporting publications used for consideration of scholarships and awards by the Graduate School, including any amendments that may be made to the announcement in the future.

4. The research paper in section 1.2 must not be a work that has been previously used for applying for the Oversea Research Scholarship for Graduate Students from the Graduate School before.

5. The applicant must not have previously received funding support from the Research Publication Scholarship for Graduate Students at the same study level.


Researchers presenting an oral presentation at an international academic conference in Thailand receive financial support of 15,000 THB, while those presenting abroad receive 40,000 THB. Researchers presenting a poster presentation at an international academic conference in Thailand receive 10,000 THB in support, while those presenting abroad receive 30,000 THB.

For conferences held in Asia (excluding India, Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia), the financial support is 40,000 THB. For conferences in India, Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia, the financial support is 50,000 THB. For conferences in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Western Asia, the financial support is 60,000 THB. For conferences in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Eastern Europe, the financial support is 80,000 THB. For conferences in Western Europe, the United States, and Canada, the financial support is 100,000 THB. For other countries, the financial support is determined based on the committee's consideration.
