PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Science at Khon Kaen University offers four study plans, each tailored to the applicant's academic background and research experience:
Plan 1.1: Dissertation without Coursework (for applicants with at least an M.Sc.)
- Compulsory Courses: 3 credits (Seminar, audited)
- Elective Courses: None
- Dissertation: 48 credits
- Total Credits: 48
Plan 1.2: Dissertation without Coursework (for applicants with at least a B.Sc.)
- Compulsory Courses: 3 credits (Seminar, audited)
- Elective Courses: None
- Dissertation: 72 credits

Additional Requirements for Plan 1.2:
- Minimum GPA of 3.50
- 3-5 years of research experience
- Publications in Thai and/or international journals

ADMISSIONS PROCESS
1) Qualifications
Applicants must meet the qualifications specified in the 2005 Khon Kaen University Regulations for Graduate Student Level, Section 5, Article 26.4, or in its latest revised version. Specific requirements for each program type are as follows:
- Type 1.1:
- Must hold a Master's Degree in Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related fields).
- Minimum GPA: 3.50 or, alternatively, at least one peer-reviewed scientific paper published in a national or international journal, or a minimum of three years of research experience.
- Admission may also be approved by the Curriculum Administrative Committee based on research knowledge and skill competency.
- Type 1.2:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related fields).
- Minimum GPA: 3.00, along with at least one peer-reviewed scientific paper published in a national or international journal.
- Admission may also be approved by the Curriculum Administrative Committee.
- Type 2.1:
- Must hold a Master's Degree in Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related fields).
- Type 2.2:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related fields).
- Minimum GPA: 3.00 or admission approval from the Curriculum Administrative Committee based on research knowledge and skill competency.
Note: Applicants not meeting the Type 1.1 requirements may be eligible for the Type 2.1 program if they meet its criteria. Similarly, those not meeting Type 1.2 requirements may qualify for Type 2.2 if its criteria are met.
2) English Language Proficiency
Applicants from countries where English is not the first language must submit an English Proficiency test result, taken within the last two years. The minimum scores accepted are:
- TOEFL (Paper-Based): 500
- TOEFL (Computer-Based): 173
- TOEFL (Internet-Based): 61
- IELTS (Academic Module): 5.5
- TU-GET (1000 scale): 550
- CU-TEP (120 scale): 70
Other English proficiency tests with equivalent standards may be accepted upon approval by the Curriculum Administrative Committee.

Students who have been granted a Non Immigration Visa for a temporary stay in Thailand and intend to stay longer than 90 days must report every 90 days at Khon Kaen immigration in person.
Question :
I left Thailand for a week to visit my family and return on 28th April 2019, my friend said I have to report the immigration in person within 48 hrs, right?
Answer :
Yes, students have to report within 48 hrs. after returning to Thailand at the immigration in person to maintain their notification of residence.
Question :
If I miss the report after returning to Thailand within 48 hrs., what will happen to me?
Answer :
The record information of your residence will be shown as the address you made the first 90-day report at the immigration. For example, you graduated from University A in Bangkok and moved to Khon Kaen for studying doctoral Degree. The first notification of a 90-day report made in Bangkok so the recorded residence information is in Bangkok. You visited hometown and missed the 48-hr. report after returning to Thailand. When you make the 90-day report at KK immigration, the information of your residence is in Bangkok. Therefore, you have to pay for the fine. In case your first notification of a 90-day report made in Khon Kaen, there is no problem.

If I travel to another province in Thailand, do I have to report at the immigration?

No, the landlord or house owner (hotel or house you are staying with during your traveling) will report immigration.
