The objectives of the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Research and Development in Pharmaceuticals are to produce graduates with high level of academic in pharmaceutical products. Those who graduate from the program will have the following skills:

3.1 Able to plan and manage research effectively, to create knowledge in pharmaceutical products, and to solve the problems base on scientific processes.

3.2 Able to initiate and discuss an idea under the possible situation and develop learning and thinking process by themselves.

3.3 Able to distribute knowledge to public and work compatibly with other people.

Khon Kaen University (KKU) was established as the major university in the northeastern part of Thailand in 1964 and has since devoted itself to becoming one of the top universities in Thailand. PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Research and Development in Pharmaceuticals has four types of curriculum. The curriculums without coursework are the program Type 1 (1) and Type 1 (2). The curriculums with coursework are the program Type 2 (1) and Type 2 (2).

4.1 Total number of credits of the program

  • Type 1 (1): 72 credits
  • Type 1 (2): 48 credits
  • Type 2 (1): 72 credits

  • For a B.Sc. (Pharm.) graduate or equivalent degree based on the discretion of The Doctor of Philosophy in Research and Development Program Committee.
  • Compulsory courses (audit) as appropriate
  • Dissertation: 72 credits
  • Total: 72 credits
  • Type 1 (2)
  • For a Master's graduate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent degree based on the discretion of The Doctor of Philosophy in Research and Development Program Committee.
  • Compulsory courses (audit) as appropriate
  • Dissertation: 48 credits
  • Total: 48 credits
  • Type 2 (1)
  • For a B.Sc. (Pharm.) graduate or equivalent degree based on the discretion of The Doctor of Philosophy in Research and Development Program Committee.
  • Compulsory courses (audit): 10 credits
  • Elective courses: 14 credits
  • Dissertation: 48 credits
  • Total: 72 credits
  • Type 2 (2)
  • For a Master's graduate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent degree based on the discretion of The Doctor of Philosophy in Research and Development Program Committee.
  • Compulsory courses (audit): 10 credits
  • Elective courses: 2 credits
  • Dissertation: 36 credits
  • Total: 48 credits

There may be additional basic courses required as appropriate, without credit counted toward the programs, in order to prepare students before entering the program.

Students in both types of the curriculum are required to pass the Qualifying Examination to assess if they can proceed to arrange the dissertation topics. The Qualifying Examination also assesses the knowledge of students in Research and Development in Pharmaceuticals. Adherence to the Regulation of Khon Kaen University on Graduate Level Education, 2001, Section 7, Item 36.5 and 36.6, or the newly modified Regulations of Khon Kaen.

Question :

I am KKU student and get Non-ED Visa for a year, do I have to make the notification of staying in Thailand over 90 days?

Answer :

Students who have been granted a Non Immigration Visa for a temporary stay in Thailand and intend to stay longer than 90 days must report every 90 days at Khon Kaen immigration in person.

Question :

I left Thailand for a week to visit my family and return on 28th April 2019, my friend said I have to report the immigration in person within 48 hrs, right?

Answer :

Yes, students have to report within 48 hrs. after returning to Thailand at the immigration in person to maintain their notification of residence.

Question :

If I miss the report after returning to Thailand within 48 hrs., what will happen to me?

Answer :

The record information of your residence will be shown as the address you made the first 90-day report at the immigration. For example, you graduated from University A in Bangkok and moved to Khon Kaen for studying doctoral Degree. The first notification of a 90-day report made in Bangkok so the recorded residence information is in Bangkok. You visited hometown and missed the 48-hr. report after returning to Thailand. When you make the 90-day report at KK immigration, the information of your residence is in Bangkok. Therefore, you have to pay for the fine. In case your first notification of a 90-day report made in Khon Kaen, there is no problem.

If I travel to another province in Thailand, do I have to report at the immigration?

Answer :

No, the landlord or house owner (hotel or house you are staying with during your traveling) will report immigration.

What are the tuition fees and living expenses?

Answer :

Tuition fees vary depending on the program and level of study. For instance, international undergraduate programs at KKU International College have specific tuition rates. KKU INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE The estimated monthly cost of living ranges from 8,000 to 15,000 THB (approximately 266 to 500 USD).
