About University

North-Chiang Mai University was established in 1999 by Mr. Narong Chavasint, who serves as the Founder and President. His intention was to give back to his birthplace, Chiang Mai, and to honor the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty King Bhumibol the Great. With a strong belief that education is the most valuable and timeless gift to society, Mr. Narong envisioned an institution rooted in the idea that giving leads to true happiness, and that nothing holds greater worth than education. He believed that education shapes individuals to reach their full potential, though it is a delicate and complex endeavor that demands patience, devotion, commitment, and persistence.

This mission, however, is not one that can be achieved by a single individual. It requires the collaboration of all stakeholders, including the founder, university administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents—each playing an essential role in shaping the institution’s success. North-Chiang Mai University is committed to developing qualified and responsible graduates who will contribute positively to society, in line with its vision: “North-Chiang Mai University will be the leading university in sciences and technology in the North of Thailand. It is a warm place of learning. The graduates of NCU must be strong in ICT, skillful in practice, and uphold integrity.”

The university is dedicated to fulfilling the four core missions of Thai higher education institutions: providing education, conducting research, offering academic services, and preserving arts and culture. These efforts are guided by the principles of honesty, diligence, and justice. Furthermore, the university embraces the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy as advocated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej—promoting rational thinking, self-reliance, and integrity to prepare graduates for a resilient and sustainable future.

North-Chiang Mai University also places strong emphasis on preparing its students to meet the demands of both the public and private sectors, not only within Thailand but also in the global economy. Its graduates are equipped with technological skills, communication abilities, critical and creative thinking, leadership qualities, and entrepreneurial mindsets. Most importantly, they are nurtured to act with moral and ethical responsibility—ready to face the challenges of the modern world with confidence and competence.
