ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Mathematics has proved to be an indispensable tool for understanding the world around us. It plays a fundamental role both in the realm of science and of commerce and finance. MUIC delivers applied mathematics major that combines the benefits of a well-rounded general education in science and humanities to produce high-caliber graduates capable of undertaking graduate studies and professions in IT, finance, banking, statistics, education, and actuarial science.

Through I-Design, students will have options to do minors in the following fields: 1) decision making and 2) statistics. The program also offers a track in financial mathematics for students who want to add some breadth to their degree in this field. Additionally, a certificate in actuarial mathematics is offered. Students will have an opportunity to take courses such as Actuarial Mathematics I & II or Risk Management and Derivatives, and earn some credits for SOA exams, a pathway to become a credentialed actuary or financial analyst

Mahidol University has its origins in the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888 by His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), and the hospital’s medical school is the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand, granting its first medical degree in 1893. Later becoming the University of Medical Sciences in 1943, Mahidol University was renamed with great honor in 1969 by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej , after his Royal Father, H.R.H Prince Mahidol of Songkla , who is widely known as the ‘ Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand ‘.
