About University

Established in 1984, City University Malaysia was founded by a group of scholars with extensive global academic experience and a passion to empower the next generation. Originally known as Petaling Jaya Community College, the University has made significant advances over the years towards fulfilling its Vision of being a globally renowned industry-focused institution. As one of Malaysia’s earlier private higher education institutions, the University attained full university status in 2016 and now has more than 9,200 students with over 38,000 alumni.

City Education Group, a subsidiary of U.C.I. Education Sdn.Bhd. is comprised of two institutions of higher learning - City University Malaysia and City Academy. The University also has five Centres of Excellence with a dedicated Centre for Foundation Studies, Centre of Language Studies, City Graduate School, Research Management Centre, and Centre for Continuing Education & Professional Studies. Pro-Chancellor Scholarship

Requirement:

Selection Criteria

  1. The student must complete the A-Level program with City University.
  2. The student achieves a minimum actual final academic performance for the A-Level with AAA.

Retention of the Scholarship

  1. The student must maintain full-time enrolment & successfully complete the program
  2. The student must maintain at least 85% or more attendance in lecturers and tutorials for each subject.
  3. The student must maintain at least a CGPA 3.75 each semester.
  4. The student must maintain a minimum of 42 contribution hours (long semesters) of his / her time to assist the faculty.


Benefit: Up to 100% fee waiver for 1st year tuition fee Degree.

Vice-Chancellor Scholarship

Requirement:

Selection Criteria

  1. The student completes the Foundation program with City University.
  2. The student should achieve a minimum actual final academic performance for the Foundation program of CGPA 3.75.

Retention of the Scholarship

  1. The student must maintain full-time enrolment & successfully complete the program.
  2. The student must maintain at least 85% or more attendance in lecturers and tutorials for each subject.
  3. The student must maintain at least a CGPA 3.75 each semester
  4. The student must maintain a minimum of 42 contribution hours (long semesters of his / her time to assist the faculty.


Benefit: Up to 100% tuition fee waiver for 1st year tuition fee Degree.

CityU Scholarship for Outstanding Student

Requirement:

Selection Criteria

  1. The student must maintain full-time enrolment for 1st year and also for the 2nd year of the program.
  2. The student must apply for the scholarship on semester-to- semester basis and it is applicable for long semester only.
  3. The student must maintain at least 85% or more attendance in lecturers and tutorials for each subject.
  4. The student must maintain at least a CGPA 3.50 each semester.
  5. The student must maintain a minimum of 42 contribution hours (long semesters) of his / her time to assist the faculty.


Benefit: Up to 80% tuition fee waiver for 1st year and for subsequent semesters in City University.

CityU Industry Scholarship

These programs have been developed in consultation with the industry to ensure that graduates are prepared and competent for work requirements. We offer a mix of academic and workplace learning environment. On graduation, the students will embark on careers with our industry partners.


City U – Vatel Hospitality Scholarship

Together with industry partners, City University is pleased to offer scholarship for all City University Hospitality undergraduate program which includes Bachelor of Hospitality.

Tenure of the Scholarship: One Year


Selection Criteria

  1. Meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee the applicant receiving the scholarship.
  2. All scholarship applications will be evaluated and the committee reserves the right to revise the criteria from time to time without prior notice. The decision of this Committee is final.
  3. May and September intakes are ONLY applicable for those entering the program without being granted any exemption.

  1. The student must maintain full-time enrolment & complete the program
  2. The student must maintain at least 85% or more attendance in lecturers and tutorials for each subject.
  3. The student must maintain at least a CGPA 3.75 each semester.
  4. The student must maintain a minimum of 42 contribution hours (long semesters) of his / her time to assist the faculty.

Benefit: Up to 100% tuition fee waiver for subsequent semesters in City University.

Post Graduate Research Scholarship

Requirement:

Selection Criteria

  1. Applicants shall possess a Bachelor’s degree with Honours with a minimum of 2nd Upper Class or its equivalent.
  2. Applicants must meet all prevailing academic and language requirements.
  3. Applicants must be a full time postgraduate (by research) student registered at City University.
  4. Applicants must be recommended by the respective school responsible for the supervision and assessment of the candidate’s postgraduate studies.

Retention of the Scholarship

Submission of satisfactory progress reports at the end of every semester.

Recipients are to assist their school as teaching/research assistanst during the duration of their study.

Recipients are required to attend and tutor for at least three (3) subjects per academic semester of Bachelor and/or Masters study accordingly and / or not exceeding commitment hours required by City University during the Recipients’ study duration. Alternatively, the Recipients can opt to supervise 3 students at Masters Level for their Project papers; from the beginning to completion (applicable for those under Post- doctoral programs).

Recipients must meet minimum performance requirement as determined by the Centre of Postgraduate Studies every semester. This would be assessed by the Head of Centre and Academic Department who would them make a recommendation to continue the scholarship or otherwise.

Publication of research in International Indexed Journals is required for the recipient:

  • a.Master degree program – 1 journal publication
  • b.PhD program – 3 journal publications.
  • c.Note: The cost of 1st 2 publications will be borne by the Students under their respective studies requirements and the cost for the remainder publications will be borne by City University.

Recipients will be required to possess an approved Teaching Permit from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) under City University and the fee for the Teaching Permit Registration is to be borne by the Recipients.

The Recipients shall not undertake any employment not relating to his/her training program, whether paid or otherwise, during his/her course of studies, without prior written approval of City University Registrar. The Recipients will not engage himself / herself in any political, commercial or other activities incompatible with his / her program of studies.

Recipients who do not meet the conditions above could have their scholarship withdrawn after the issuance of a warning letter.


Benefit: Up to 100% tuition fee waiver for the minimum candidature period of the program. Other fees are payable in full.
