ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

The Department of Microbiology was founded as part of the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University in 1975. Our mission is to educate undergraduate and graduate students, and conduct researches in the area of ​​microbiology. This includes the application of microbiology in medicine, agriculture, industries, and the environment. In the past four decades, we have continuously been transforming into one of the leading microbiology departments in Thailand and Asia.Currently, we are located on the 13-20th floor of Maha Vajirunhis Building, Faculty of Science. We are offering an undergraduate program in Microbiology (Thai Program), and Master's and Doctoral Programs in Microbiology and Microbial Technology (English Program). All of the department's full-time faculty hold the highest degree in their fields with diverse areas of research interests. We are conducting cutting edge researches in bacteriology, mycology, applied microbiology, bioremediation, food microbiology, fermentation technology, microbial genetics, environmental microbiology, immunology, and virology.

Possible Career Pathway


With a degree in microbiology, graduates will be able to work as microbiologists in many different places, from universities to government agencies, as well as, private companies. They will play crucial roles in many different perspectives, including medicine, environmental science, chemical and food industry, as well as basic research.
