Expressive arts therapy is a dynamic field in the mental health profession. It is based on the empirical knowledge that the process of artistic creation, under the guidance of a qualified therapist, enables individuals to become more expressive and communicative, develop self-awareness and therefore begin to heal. The practice can be applied to people of all ages. It is especially valuable for clients who have difficulties expressing themselves verbally and is useful in addressing trauma because of art's capacity to express traumatic imagery and experience.
