The Bachelor of Arts Program in Economics (EBA) received its charter from Chulalongkorn University Council on February 28 th , 2002. Classes began on August 4 th , 2002 with 45 students. Since then the EBA has been continuously building its reputation for high-quality teaching and learning in the field of economics. The EBA accepts up to 150 selected applicants into the program per year. As one of the leading international programs in Thailand, it has been able to attract a large number of invited visiting professors from prestigious institutions around the world. Also, the program has successfully forged strong partnerships with many national and international institutions. This has led to many benefits, such as the student exchange programs, which is popular among the students.
The vision of the EBA is to be “an internationally competitive program aimed at creating economists who are highly competent to contribute to society, with ethical and social responsibility”, with three mission statements as follows:
1. To equip students with well-rounded and in-depth knowledge that meets international standards of excellence.
2. To enhance students' understanding of ethics, social awareness and social responsibility and develop future generations of engaged and responsible citizens and leaders of the country and the world.
3. To emphasize the development of core competencies for life-long learning, such as skills and personal attitudes, and consider it an integral part of high-quality undergraduate education in economics.
The EBA pursues five strategies to achieve its vision and mission:
1. To design a curriculum that responds dynamically to the changing global economy.
2. To attract outstanding foreign and domestic scholars as well as business and government experts to engage with the EBA.
3. To create active learning environments to improve students experience within and beyond the classroom to stimulate critical thinking, problem-solving, life-long learning, social responsibility.
4. To encourage students to apply knowledge to real-world problems and participate in a wide range of academic and non-academic activities, domestically and abroad.
5. To broaden students exposure to diverse cultural experiences through international networks in preparation for further study and future employment.

EBA students can choose from a variety of different professions and types of company. An EBA student's abilities in English and analytical thinking opens the door to many career options. Economics, with its emphasis on logic and finance, means that jobs in consulting and finance are the most chosen professions by EBA students. However, the skills taught in EBA are useful in many kinds of businesses in Thailand and abroad.
