F&Qs
Our Computer Science programme has solid roots in mathematics and engineering, while our innovative department optimises the relevance of the programme by including disciplines such as linguistics, psychology, economics, physics and music.
This course is specifically designed to address the academic needs of students from all over the world.
Education standards differ around the globe, from state to state and country to country. Teaching methods differ, the number of study hours varies, and qualifications differ too.
A Foundation Year gives you an extra year of learning before you embark on a degree course. You'll be taught by the same university lecturers and will gain invaluable skills such as academic referencing and how to prepare for higher education.
A foundation is a one-year preparation course for international students who need additional English language and academic preparation for entry into our university undergraduate courses.
The foundation course acts as a bridge between your current qualifications and our university undergraduate entry requirements and familiarises you with life and culture abroad in preparation for university.
Course Types
Our foundation courses can prepare you for a variety of subjects, such as the English language, business, design, computing, and engineering.
Specialise in your chosen Field
On a foundation course, you can tailor your course to suit the degree programme you wish to study for in the future. For example, we offer three distinct foundation course study routes: Business, Design, Computing & Engineering. It involves studying core modules common to each route, plus a set of subject-specific modules that are carefully designed to focus on the academic areas most useful to your chosen degree.
A guaranteed university place
Once you complete your foundation course and achieve the required grades, you’ll be guaranteed entry into the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree at your chosen university.
Career Options
As we allow you to work for different employers in every work term, you can explore career options, which many graduate programmes and internships do not offer. This gives you a competitive edge when applying for graduate roles, as you gain confidence in the areas you want to work in.
We welcome you to start your transformative journey at any point during the year, be it autumn, winter, spring or summer. Once you receive your acceptance letter, you can start any upcoming 3-week module in your chosen programme. All the missed modules can be easily caught up at the start of next year.
