Amidst the bustling streets of Bangkok, three friends found themselves struck by an idea: to ease the journey for international students aspiring to study in Thailand. Like many navigating the maze of higher education options, they too once felt the overwhelming confusion. Recognizing that selecting the perfect university is far from a simple task, they embarked on a mission to simplify the process. 

Get to know Mengkoung Key, Aung Kaung Pyae, and Ngu Wah Aung, the founders of UNILINKS, who came together on April 20, 2024. The inspiration behind UNILINKS stemmed from each founder's real-life experiences of living in Bangkok.. 

The journey of UNILINKS began when Mengkoung Key arrived in Thailand to pursue his studies for five years, ultimately earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree. Despite initially struggling to secure a full scholarship, he was fortunate to receive a 50% scholarship from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Thailand. Facing challenges with limited proficiency in English and Thai during his first year, Mengkoung persevered by dedicating three hours daily to language learning through translation and practice. This language acquisition journey enabled him to navigate life in Bangkok independently.

Facing the financial constraint of only having $3000, Mengkoung encountered a hurdle in managing his expenses, especially with his sales job not consistently providing sufficient income. However, with the guidance and support of older students and mentors, he was able to make ends meet. Taking initiative, he delved into entrepreneurship, launching a small business to cover his study and living costs.

Every day, he reminded himself of his commitment to support other students coming to study in Thailand and to contribute to providing quality education for the next generation in Cambodia. He aspired to emulate his mentors and guide the next generation.

Inspired by his own struggles, Mengkoung and his friends established UNILINKS. What is their Goal? Their goal is to assist students in securing scholarships to afford studying in Thailand and to facilitate easy access to Thai universities for everyone. They aim to help students find the right universities, scholarships, and adapt to life in a new country.
