King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) is one of Thailand’s most important science and technology universities, widely known for engineering education, applied sciences, and industrial innovation. The institution was founded in 1960 as the Nonthaburi Telecommunications Training Center through cooperation between the Thai government and Japan. Its original purpose was to develop skilled technical personnel in telecommunications and engineering to support national infrastructure development. In 1971, it merged with other technical colleges to form King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, which had campuses in North Bangkok, Thonburi, and Ladkrabang. In 1986, KMITL became an independent institute under the King Mongkut system, and in 2008 it gained full autonomous university status.
