Mahidol University

Mahidol University is one of Thailand’s leading public universities, originally founded from Siriraj Hospital and Thailand’s first medical school established in 1888. It later became the University of Medical Sciences in 1943 before being renamed Mahidol University in 1969 in honor of Prince Mahidol of Songkla, known as the “Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand.” The university is internationally recognized for excellence in medicine, health sciences, science, research, and innovation, while also offering strong programs in engineering, social sciences, arts, business, and technology. Mahidol operates several campuses including Salaya, Phayathai, and Bangkok Noi, with Salaya serving as the main modern campus. Mahidol emphasizes research, international collaboration, academic excellence, and social responsibility under its philosophy: “True success is not in the learning, but in its application to the benefit of mankind.” Today, it is considered one of Thailand’s top universities and a major center for research and higher education in Southeast Asia.
