Established in 1984, City University Malaysia was founded by a group of scholars with extensive global academic experience and a passion to empower the next generation. Originally known as Petaling Jaya Community College, the University has made significant advances over the years towards fulfilling its Vision of being a globally renowned industry-focused institution. As one of Malaysia’s earlier private higher education institutions, the University attained full university status in 2016 and now has more than 9,200 students with over 38,000 alumni. City Education Group, a subsidiary of U.C.I. Education Sdn.Bhd. is comprised of two institutions of higher learning - City University Malaysia and City Academy. In 2024, City University Malaysia expanded its footprint with a new campus in Cyberjaya, a global technology hub. Rated in the most recent Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education SETARA-2023 rating as the Competitive University, City University Malaysia has an outstanding record for academic quality.
